Rigol DP832 and Linux

February 15th, 2016 Leave a comment Go to comments

I just bought a nice power supply from Rigol, a DP832. After enabled the LAN option, I was wondering it’s possible to use it from Linux.

After few minutes, I found the python vxi11 library. Just install the module (I guess ivi and numpy is required as well), and few minutes of digging in documentation, here a snippet:

import vxi11
instra = vxi11.Instrument("192.168.0.20")
print(instra.ask("*IDN?"))
RIGOL TECHNOLOGIES,DP832,DP8C174204690,00.01.14
print(instra.ask(":MEASure:CURR?"))
0.032

Simply perfect.
